Glitter Bear is a colorful, lovable bear that sits down to learn shapes with your child. Unlike basic shapes books with one-word pages, this book offers multi-sensory learning including questions, tactile directions, and positive affirmations on each page. All shapes needed for kindergarten, including the harder to learn shapes oval and rectangle, are included in this book. This book also promotes fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination by encouraging your children to engage with the book as they read along. In addition, the book ends with a final review section, giving each child a second chance to strengthen their knowledge of shapes.
But that’s not all. Glitter Bear is androgynous. You won’t find any “he” or “she” pronouns in this book. Children get to identify who Glitter Bear is to them without being pushed or pulled in one direction. Glitter Bear was created by two moms who were fed up with the red tape of boy vs. girl books. They wanted to create a fun, educational character that didn't have any labels.

Glitter Bear is one of those books you will love reading to a toddler or preschooler over and over again because there is just so much to do while you read: trace the shapes, use your senses, go on a shape scavenger hunt and we’re sure you can think of a few others. Even if you have a child who already knows his/her shapes this book will still entertain them! We love the fact that Glitter Bear isn’t labeled as a girl or a boy so each child can’t claim the book isn’t for them based on gender and instead every child can relate. We wonder if this one will come out in board book format, perfect for those little ones that are still learning respectful book etiquette. This book is so very well written. I love the interaction of shapes! I would defiantly recommend this book!!
My daughter LOVES this book. Glitter Bear is the perfect way for children to learn to identify shapes. It is a fun and interactive way to learn. Kids will adore this glittery bear!!
My son adored Glitter Bear and was pleasantly engaged during the interactive narrative. My son is 3 and already has his shapes memorized, while the narrative wasn’t overly challenging for him, the bear and interactions kept him interested and ready to turn the page. We hope that Glitter Bear has more learning adventures planned (perhaps with numbers or the alphabet)!
Who doesn't love a glittery bear? This book is perfect for your littles. It provides all of the basic shapes for your littles to discover, and it incorporates hands-on activities that require the ability to follow single step instructions. Awesome awesome! After your little follows an instruction, they are congratulated by the narrative within the book. I appreciate the thought that went in to this book and definitely recommend it. I only gave it 4 stars because the narrative/instructions felt like they could have been a bit more creative and engaging, in my opinion. Still a great book in my book! ;)
Glitter Bear is a curious little bear who teaches us all about shapes in a very interactive manor. My two-year old loved the activities on each page; we traced circles, tapped triangles, and tickled diamonds. The big bonus here was that Glitter Bear is gender-neutral, no “he” or “she” can be found in this book. Miss I can figure out for herself what Glitter Bear is, or maybe she won’t even care.
